Student jumps to his death after stabbing lecturer at Nanyang Technology University
A male student jumped to his death after stabbing and critically wounding a lecturer at Nanyang Technological University today.

University officials confirmed that the young man was dead and that the professor had been hospitalised and is understood to be undergoing emergency surgery.

Details of the attack at NTC's Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty were sketchy.

However, reports say that the alleged assailant had been an Indonesian-Chinese engineering student in his 20s.

His body was found at the base of the engineering building.

Police were at the scene.

SINGAPORE: A lecturer with Nanyang Technological University has been injured after being stabbed by a student.

The professor at the engineering faculty was in his office when the student stabbed him with a knife in the back and arm.

After stabbing, the male student, who was in his 20s, slit his wrists and jumped.

His body was found at the bottom of a building at the engineering block, which was about five-storey high.

He died from his injuries.

The injured man is believed to be Professor Chan Kap Luk, who is in his 40s.

He and the student, an Indonesian-Chinese, were from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where the stabbing occurred.

Chan has been sent to the Nationl University Hospital.

Police say they received a call about the incident at 10.25 Monday morning.
