The bus left Pantai Remis in Perak at 7pm on Saturday with 26 passengers, a driver and a co-driver onboard.
Police detained the driver, 38, and his assistant, 26, to assist investigation following the accident.
Khor’s husband Foo Chong Ern, 62, said his wife had called him from Ipoh before leaving and he had waited eagerly for them to alight in Johor Baru.
“I was shocked when I received another call from someone early this morning that the express bus was involved in an accident.
“They (Khor and Pei Sin) were in joyous mood and I could not wait to see them. But the phone call last night appeared to be our last conversation,” he said.
Most of the injured said they did not know what happened as they were asleep. They were awakened by a violent jerk.

Nasir urged witnesses to come forward to assist investigations.
